Verstegen grabs are designed and build for optimal performance in specific unloading situations.
The grab models are based on more than fifty years experienced and are still improved.
Verstegen grabs are known for their high productivity. Due to the use of high tensile steels, a practically frictionless bearing system, in combination with a good grab design, it is possible to build light weight grabs with excellent digging abilities. Despite their low dead weights, the grabs are very strong and extremely reliable.
One of the most important advantages of a Verstegen grabs is the extreme high reliability. This is the result of a well proven grab design, an excellent bearing system and the use of first class materials.
The bearing system of Verstegen grabs is worldwide known for it’s long life time and high reliability. All clamshell grabs are provided with self-aligning spherical plain bearings on the hinge points of the scoops and arms. The advantage of these spherical bearings is that they can accept a misalignment of about 1.5°. This is very important in hard working conditions, or after accidental damage.

Verstegen grabs are build from first class materials The complete grab scales, cutting edges as well as scale plates, are made from high tensile, wear resistant Hardox steel. Hardox steel is 2 to 3 times stronger than normal construction steel. The wear resistance is even 4 times higher than common used steels. Hardox is a wear-resistant steel, produced by SSAB in Sweden. Hardox combines exceptionally high hardness with extremely high toughness. It has a hardness of 450 HB.
The use of Hardox and Weldox make it possible to build strong and durable grabs with a low dead weight and high capacity.
