For fine and free flowing materials Verstegen recommend the use of a clamshell grab with enclosed environmentally friendly scales. Enclosed scales minimise material loss and pollution of the environment.
For materials like agribulk and fertiliser, there are high volume grabs. The grabs are provided with wide scales, that are open at the top. The open top allows excessive material to flow out. Further it gives the crane driver a good look inside the grab.
Very fine materials, like phosphate or alumina require a special knife sealing system. Verstegen offers various systems, adapted to the specific unloading situation.
Because of more strict environmental regulations, also for coal and cokes enclosed grabs are becoming more popular. Verstegen developed an enclosed grab that minimises overfilling and compression of the material inside the scales.
