Verstegen grabs are build from first class materials to offer the highest production and a longe lifetime.
The upper structure of our grabs is made from Weldox steel and the complete scoops are made from Hardox steel.
Verstegen is specialised in designing and builiding strong grabs with a low dead weight and a high productive capacity.
This is the result of a good design and the use of the best possible materials, like Hardox and Weldox.
Hardox and Weldox are brand names from SSAB Oxelösund.
Weldox is the world’s leading high-strength structural steel. The material is much stronger
than ordinary steel and using Weldox steel helps us to build strong grabs with a low dead weight.
Verstegen uses HARDOX wear plate for the combination of high hardness, high strength and
good toughness. The material is has a long lifetime and has high resistance against deformation.
Hardox steel is 2 to 3 times stronger than normal construction steel. The wear resistance is
even 4 times higher than common used steels. Verstegen uses Hardox 450 to minimise wear
and increase the lifetime of the scales.
Verstegen builds the complete scoops from Hardox steel. This means that besides the scale lips (cutting edges), all other scoop plates that are in contact with the bulk material are made from Hardox 450 steel.
Verstegen is awarded by SSAB to use the "HARDOX In my Body" sign.
Worldwide Verstegen is the only grab manufacturer that is entitled to use this sign.
SSAB only awards companies that meet their strict demands on quality.
Welding of Hardox and Weldox
The steel grades in HARDOX wear plate have a low content of alloying elements and thus have low carbon equivalents. As a result, they can be easily welded to each other and to all ordinary structural plate using any conventional welding method.
