In case you need a single rope grab that can be opened in mid air, the tagline or manual VSFC grab is the most economic solution.
When the grab is in the right position, e.g. above the hopper, the grab operator pulls a tagline and the grab will open. To open the grab in this way requires only little force and is very easy. A hydraulic brake cylinder ensures a smooth and quiet opening.
For grab capacities up to 5 M3 and maximum crane loads of 8 ton, the system can be combined with a touch-and-go opening system.
Smaller grabs are provided with a mechanical catch mechanism. For crane loads above 10 ton, however this is no longer possible. The forces acting on a strictly mechanical system would become too big and opening by hand would no longer be possible. Therefore VSFC grab for crane loads above 10 ton are provided with a hydraulic catch mechanism.
Most grabs with a (manual) hydraulic mechanism can be changed to a remote control system.
Because the grabs can be opened in the air, there is no risk of damaging the hoppers. Further the grabs are also very suitable for loading vessels.
