Most bulk materials can be handled with a normal clamhell grab. For common bulk materials like coal, ore, bauxite, fertiliser and agribulk, Verstegen has very suitable grabs.
Special grab designs
Som bulk materials have very specific properties and a normal grab isn´t suitable anymore.
In these cases, special adjustments must be made or sometimes even a special grab design is required.

Clamshell grabs for copper concentrate
For handling copper concentrate we have developed enclosed grabs with stainless steel scoops.
The grabs have extra closing force to ensure a good penetration and grab filling.
Clamshell grabs for nickel ore, bentonite and other sticky materials
Some materials can be easy to grab but very difficult to unload because the material sticks to the grab.
Nickel ore and bentonite (when moist) are examples of this. Especially for sticky materials Verstegen
developed a grab with an adjusted "smooth scale design" and with special liners with an extreme low
friction coefficient. As a result even the stickiest materials will easily slide out of the grab scales.
