Aggregates

Aggregates come in different forms and sizes, depending on their application. Selecting the right grab strongly depends on the particle size. Most aggregates contain hard minerals and are therefore very abrasive, which can cause strong wear one the shells.

Construction aggregates

Aggregate is a broad category of coarse to medium grained materials used in construction, including sand, gravel, crushed stone, slag, recycled concrete and geosynthetic aggregates. Aggregates are the most mined materials in the world and are a component as concrete and asphalt concrete. Aggregates act as fillers or volume increasing components on the one hand and are responsible for strength , hardness and durability of the concrete on other hand.

Different grabs for different aggregates

Aggregates come in different forms and sizes, depending on their application. The mineral composition and characteristics of the aggregate will depend on the type of mineral deposit from which the aggregate is produced. Edgy and large particles create more ‘penetration resistance’ and using a standard grab will result in a poor filling and low production. Verstegen has developed specific solutions for difficult to penetrate materials.
